OVERVIEW OF MIGRANT SITUATION IN TURKEY
According to the latest available figures from the Turkish Directorate General for Migration Management (DGMM) currently there are approximately 3,5 million foreign nationals present in Turkish territory seeking for the international protection.
Most of them are Syrians 3,168,757* who are granted with the temporary protection (TP) status, while according to UNHCR another greater group of the foreign nationals seeking Turkish humanitarian and international protection are 315,643** asylum-seekers and refugees consisting of different nationalities, but mainly coming from Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Somalia and other countries.
In addition, there are 590,540* foreign nationals under residence permit holder status including humanitarian residence holders.

TEMPORARY PROTECTION
Turkey implements a Temporary Protection regime for 3,168,757 from Syria which grants beneficiaries right to legal stay as well as some level of access to basic rights and services. A vast majority of them 2,934,442 individuals, live outside the camps and are spread across the Turkish border provinces while nearly 234,315 live in 23 camps also majority of them are close to the border with Syria.

ASYLUM-SEEKERS AND REFUGEES
Another greater group other than Syrians who are under TP that requires international protection in Turkey is 315,643 asylum-seekers and refugees consisting of different nationalities, but mainly coming from Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Somali and other countries.

RESIDENCE PERMIT HOLDERS
Foreigners who stay in Turkey beyond the duration of a visa or a visa exemption or, longer than ninety days should obtain a residence permit. There are 590,540 residence permit holders in Turkey within various categories of the residence permit. The “other” residence permit category includes Humanitarian Residence permit holders but the exact number is unknown. It is believed that vast majority of this category are Iraqi nationals.

APPREHENDED/ RESCUED MIGRANTS ON SEA
According to Turkish Coast Guard (TCG) Reports , the Turkish Coast Guard has a p p r e h e n d e d 2,668 irregular migrants and has no registered fatalities in the month of August 2017.

RESETTLEMENT OF SYRIANS FROM TURKEY UNDER ONE-TO-ONE MECHANıSM
Since April 4, a total number of 9,309 Syrians were resettled to the be-low mentioned countries according to One-to-One mechanism with the assistance of IOM.

READMITTED MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES TO TURKEY UNDER EU-TURKEY AGREEMENT
Since 4 April, 2016 there are 1,315 migrants and refugees readmitted to Turkey from Greece. The main exit points in Greece include Lesvos, Chios, Kos and Samos and the main entry points to Turkey include Dikili, Çeşme, Güllük/Bodrum and Adana. (through the air-port).

APPREHENDED MIGRANTS ON LAND
According to Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) sources, within the month of August 2017, TAF has registered a total number of 45,844 irregular border crossings which 41,644 of them entering Turkey from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Greece and Nakhichevan and has registered 4,200 irregular crossings from Turkey into Greece, Bulgaria, Syria, Iran and Iraq. The numbers per borders can be seen in the below chart.
